Not yet but it was coming ! Bio diesel is a good thing . Toronto's buses are slowly changing over . Hydro electric powered cars and trucks are a pipe dream they use oil , natural gas , nuclear or coal to generate power to the grid , but you knew that .
It's there . Its' just not ready yet . 2 years max if we wanted to change over . Including all the cars we already own . The cost of conversation would be under a thousand dollars per car .
Oh I forgot Mack the 85 uses 100% gas if you can't find ethanol .
Hey, Wally, I'd heard that the hybrids aren't actually inferior at all; yes, they're more expensive up front, but you save a lot of money on gas in the long haul & you use less of it. Still, we have to get over our dependence on oil.
What have you heard about those cars that run on salad oil? I saw one of these at SOLFEST in Hopland, California. I guess it's pretty easy to convert your engine.
Still, being from this area of the country I'm pretty much obligated to believe that the solution really rests in the hemp plant.
Great research Ing all of the things you say are true except Hybrids aren't very dependable . They are also dangerous on highways [no power] . Yes you can convert your car to biodiesel or some people call vegetable or scrap oil . All of these things will work . But ya have to see the design "Dumba" is trying to convince us will work . Twin compressed hydraulic fuel tanks under the drivers and passenger seats . Two words "Ka Boom" . It's not that I'm against Hybrid vehicles I'm Against Japanese Hybrid Vehicles . We have the answer to foreign oil [ By the way where do you think the US gets it's oil ? 60% Canada !!! Hardly a foreign power .You are behovet to me ! I want a hybrid, though I agree that they are extremely over priced right now. If they are worried about our oil reserves, then they will reduce prices on these types of vehicles.

Exactly Slick ! I read today about the first hybrid that could be safe , affordable and save up to 30% fuel .Get this it's made in Ohio . Under $25,000 can $20,000US Saturn Vue Green Line available June 2006. It doesn't use the electric motor so it doesn't lag or have way high maintenance fees . We have a Vue and get 38mpg.
I still say gas isn't the future fuel source .
