A contrarian is someone who poses as a skeptic, refusing to accept consensus conclusions in science on the ground that there is still some uncertainty.
Quote:"That doesn’t mean that scientific consensus is right in every instance. There are famous examples, in fact, of when it was proved wrong: Galileo comes to mind, as does a lowly patent clerk named Einstein. In the vast majority of modern cases, however, scientific consensus can be expected to hold up under scrutiny precisely because it was reached through a lengthy and rigorous process of professional skepticism and criticism."
9 Don't Just Sit There Say Sumthin !:
Congrats to Canada!
A hole lot of medalls you have:)
We were also not bad. The problem is - like in so many sports - the swiss would be good, but we are a very very small country and so it's harder to find enough guys who can play a sport at a top level. just good is not enough normaly
Thanx D.M.
It was a great games for us in general. The City kind'a dropped the ball a few times. The facilities were crap, because of the locations. If they moved the skiing local up further north we could have had fantastic skiing. But da city of Vancouver insisted on the locations of da events.
As for our medal total? We easily could have almost doubled them. I think we came up short. I'm not complaining, it just bugs me a bit to lose to da U.S.! hehe
14 Golds isn't all that bad though!
7,779,200 that is the population of Switzerland. Ya got 6 golds and 9 in total! Very good! Canada I think is at 33 mil? You guys always do good. Your country is probably the fittest nation in da world? And maybe one of da best places in the world to live? So who cares about da Olympics? Quality of life comes first.
Your hockey team is very good! Very up & coming. Next Olympics watch out fer 'em!
I didn't see the match. Apparently, I missed something.
Ya Heff You Missed It! Da USA have one of da best hockey players in da world with Ryan Miller.
I'd be surprised if they'd've lost -- aren't most Canadians born with a hockey stick in their hands?
No Kid between their legs. Much like Bill Clinton.
I shoot left!
Lil' known hockey facts to most Americans.
1) Hockey is a very expensive sport costing thousands and sometimes tens of thousands of dollars to play each year. Most middle-class families can't or wont put their kids into competitive hockey just because of the price tag! Competitive hockey is Class A to AAA.
2) Sidney Crosby's Dad drove a bread truck and was flat broke. Sid still got all the equipment. He was a great guy to his kids. rink in da backyard the whole kid and caboodle! Sidney was lucky enuff to catch a ride in the Quebec Major Jr.A league at 14 where they paid fer everything!
3) More than 50% of those American players came to Canada in their teens to learn and play junior hockey!
At my hockey school, way back in da 70's, more than half were American kids. We would spot 'em and have our pee wees play the American Bantams at shinny and still wipe their asses. Problem was at the end of summer hockey they were as good as we were!
It was a great game. Very exciting. I really didn't mind Canada winning cuz it's not like you guys are really a different country from us. And Miller came from our farm team. He did an awesome job, I felt bad for him because he looked so deflated at the end.
Jag da only difference is we have health care and a better retirement plan. Otherwise your right.
Ryan Miller is da best hockey player in da world. & He has huge fans now north of da boarder, including me. I always was though.
